New Delhi:  In a major drug bust at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) in New Delhi, Customs officers have arrested an Indian passenger for allegedly smuggling a substantial amount of heroin.

The incident occurred on November 9th, 2024, when a passenger, who arrived from Bangkok via Kuala Lumpur, was intercepted as he attempted to exit the international arrival hall after clearing the green channel.

During the search of his trolley bag, seven green polythene packets containing a white powdery substance suspected to be heroin, weighing a staggering 7.321 kg were recovered by the customs officers.

Diagnostic tests confirmed the substance to be heroin, with an estimated market value of a whopping Rs. 29.28 crores. The arrest, made on November 10th at 8 pm, was carried out under Section 43(b) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, for violating the provisions of the act.
