Hindu Sangharsh Samiti refuses to accept the agreement of Sri Lanka's SBSL-GTF
New Delhi, 22 December (Hindustan Reporter). Hindu Sangharsh Samiti, which raises the voice of the rights of Sri Lankan Tamils in India, has refused to accept the agreement named Himalaya Declaration between Sri Lankan Buddhist organization 'SBSL' and GTF (Global Tamil Forum). The committee has strongly condemned this agreement, calling it one-sided and impractical. The committee says that the Himalayan Declaration does not provide any permanent solution to the problems and oppression of Tamil Hindus who lived a worse life after the war.
International President of Hindu Sangharsh Samiti, Arun Upadhyay has said that the leaders of the Buddhist organization do not know the conditions under which Tamils are living in Sri Lanka, because the people of the Sangh themselves live among the Sinhalese there. They don't know anything about the snatched rights of Tamils. Hindu Sangharsh Samiti had recently called a delegation of Sri Lankan Tamil leaders to Delhi and informed the representatives of the Government of India and civil organizations about their latest condition.
Upadhyay said that the Himalayan Declaration states that SBSL will strive to bring about reconciliation in the Tamil region of Sri Lanka which has been in turmoil for decades and for a peaceful prosperous Sri Lanka where all people can live with equal rights, without fear and suspicion. The Global Tamil Forum is also talking about restoration of the situation after the end of the armed conflict. Both sides are calling it a political compromise, whereas the truth is that even after the end of the war, the situation of Tamils remains the same. The Sri Lankan Army is still deployed everywhere in the Tamil area. Even after 14 years, Tamils have not been given the right to self-governance and self-determination. The land of Tamils is being encroached upon. Temples are being demolished. Hindu Sangharsh Samiti has demanded that the Sri Lankan government should stop the action of settling Sinhalese in Tamil areas and destroying the Tamil race. Elections should be held in Tamil provinces under the supervision of the international community. A political solution to the Tamil problem should be found and handing over the northern areas to China should be avoided.
