The results of the assembly elections of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Mizoram and Telangana have come. Except Mizoram and Telangana, Bharatiya Janata Party is forming the government in the remaining three states. Actually, BJP has achieved majority by winning Rajasthan (115 seats), Chhattisgarh (54 seats) and Madhya Pradesh (163 seats). This majority will not only bring BJP to power in these states, it will also strengthen BJP in Rajya Sabha. Let us now explain to you the complete mathematics of how increased seats in the state assemblies will make BJP stronger in the Rajya Sabha.

How will the Rajya Sabha seats be affected

Rajasthan's chances in this assembly election Out of total 199 seats, BJP won 115 seats. At the same time, Congress was reduced to 69 seats. Whereas, out of 230 seats in Madhya Pradesh, BJP won 163 seats. Congress got 66 seats here. Talking about Chhattisgarh, out of 90 seats here, BJP got 54 seats and Congress got 35 seats. In Telangana, Congress got 64 seats, BRS 39, BJP 8 and AIMIM 7 seats. Now understand the mathematics of Rajya Sabha from these assembly seats.

Actually, when Rajya Sabha elections are held, the total assembly seats are divided by adding one to the Rajya Sabha seats present in the state. Then one is added to the number that comes out and the number that comes out is the number of votes required to win for a Rajya Sabha MP candidate from that state. Now it is obvious that if BJP has more MLAs in these three states, then it will win more Rajya Sabha seats.

What is the current situation

Let's talk about the three states at the moment. Where BJP has won. These states are- Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan. There are a total of 26 Rajya Sabha seats in these three states… out of which the maximum of 11 Rajya Sabha seats are in Madhya Pradesh alone. Out of these 11 seats, BJP has 8 seats and Congress has three seats. Whereas out of 10 seats in Rajasthan, BJP has 4 seats and Congress has 6 seats. Whereas, Rajya Sabha has a total of five seats in Chhattisgarh. Of these, four seats are with Congress and one seat is with BJP. However, these figures may change in the Rajya Sabha elections in 2026, because the number of BJP MLAs in these states has increased compared to before. At present BJP has 94 seats in Rajya Sabha. Talking about NDA, it has a total of 108 seats.

Congress's profit in Telangana

Even though Congress party has got defeat in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan, but in Telangana He has also won. Elections were held on a total of 119 seats, in which Congress won 64. Whereas KCR's party BRS, which is in power, has got 39 seats. Whereas BJP has got 8 seats and Asaduddin Owaisi's party AIMIM has got 7 seats. Now understand this from the angle of Rajya Sabha. There are total seven Rajya Sabha seats in Telangana. At present all these seats are in the possession of KCR's party BRS. But now Congress is expected to get three to four seats in the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections.
