Internet services in Bangladesh will remain disrupted on December 2
Dhaka, December 1 (IANS). Internet services will be disrupted in Bangladesh for three hours on the night of 2 December. The interruption will be due to the repair of the country’s first submarine cable.
The country’s first submarine cable system, called SEA-ME-WE4, is located in Cox’s Bazar district, about 400 km south-east of the capital Dhaka.
According to Bangladesh Submarine Cables PLC, the repair work will be carried out near India’s Chennai Landing Station and Singapore’s Tuas Landing Station from 3:00 am to 5:59 am on December 2. Internet services will remain temporarily closed during this period.
Internet bandwidth in Bangladesh mainly comes through two submarine cables that run through the deep sea. The first cable is located in south-eastern Cox’s Bazar and the second cable is located in Kuakata in Patuakhali district of Bangladesh, about 204 km south of Dhaka.
At the same time, amidst the protests in India against the arrest of Chinmoy Krishna Das, the saint of International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), who was arrested in Bangladesh, another saint of ISKCON has been arrested in Bangladesh. This information was given by Radharaman Das, vice president and spokesperson of ISKCON Kolkata. According to Radharaman Das, Bangladesh Police also took Shyam Das into custody.
He told that the name of the arrested saint is Shyam Das. While sharing a picture of Shyam Das on social media, he raised the question, “Do these sadhus look like terrorists?”
Meanwhile, Chinmay Prabhu was arrested by Bangladesh Police earlier this week and is now in jail. There have been many protests in Kolkata regarding the arrest of Chinmoy Prabhu and the attacks on Hindu minorities in Bangladesh. Now after the arrest of Shyam Das, the protests are likely to intensify in the coming days.
