How much tax will be charged
Under the new tax regime? If we look at the calculations, if a person’s income is between Rs 3 lakh to Rs 7 lakh, then 5% tax will be levied on his income. Apart from this, if a person’s salary is Rs 7 to 10 lakh, then 10 percent tax will be levied on his income. At the same time, if the salary of an employee is Rs 10 to 12 lakh, then 15 percent tax will be levied on his income. Whereas, a person earning Rs 12 to 15 lakh will be taxed at 20%. At the same time, 30% tax will be levied on income above Rs 15 lakh. That means, if the starting salary of an IAS officer is Rs 56,100 per month, then according to the new tax regime, 5 percent tax will be levied on his salary. Whereas, if the salary of an IAS officer is Rs 2,25,000, then 30 percent tax will be imposed on his salary.
