Jaipur: Wife murdered to get dowry, husband gets life imprisonment
Jaipur News Desk, Special Court for Women Harassment Cases of Jaipur Metro-II sentenced UP resident husband Ashwani Kumar Bharti to life imprisonment for torturing his wife for dowry and killing her by strangulation by giving her intoxicants within a year of marriage. Court judge Asha Chaudhary said in the judgment that the facts prove that the accused demanded dowry even after marrying Upasana. Additional Public Prosecutor Naresh Gajraj said that the deceased's father Anganlal had lodged a report at Shiprapath police station that his daughter's marriage was fixed with Ashwini on February 18, 2014, but 12 days before the marriage, on February 6, the accused had married his daughter Upasana. Had got married. 2014 at Arya Samaj Mandir. After marriage he started harassing her for dowry. Her daughter had told her on 7 February 2015 that her husband and in-laws were pressurizing her to transfer the car, Rs 5 lakh in cash and half the land in her name. After this, on February 15, 2015, he received information that his daughter had been murdered.
