Key to next Chief Minister of Maharashtra in Delhi meeting: Mahayuti leaders gathered
Delhi: Three top leaders of the grand alliance – BJP’s Devendra Fadnavis, Shiv Sena’s Eknath Shinde and NCP’s Ajit Pawar – will meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi on Thursday, as suspense continues over the next Chief Minister of Maharashtra. Sources told India Today TV that Maharashtra’s acting Chief Minister Shinde will reach Delhi at 4 pm and there will be a meeting between Amit Shah and Mahayuti leaders at 5:30 pm. On 23 November, Mahayuti won the assembly elections in Maharashtra with a landslide victory on 230 out of 288 assembly seats. BJP emerged as the largest party by winning 132 seats, its highest ever, while Shiv Sena and NCP got 57 and 41 seats respectively. However, five days after the results, the allies have been unable to break the deadlock over who will take the top post. However, it is widely speculated that Fadnavis is expected to take over the reins, given the BJP winning the most seats.
Ajit Pawar told reporters that the new Chief Minister is likely to take oath on November 30 or December 1. He said, “There will be two Deputy Chief Ministers in the new government.”
