He further stated that his father was an engineer and was posted in Verinag. Nimrat revealed that since Kashmir was a war field and the soldiers could not keep their family there, his father shifted alone there and she was living in Patiala with her family. The result of this was that he was murdered at the age of 44. The actress revealed that by the time she received the news of her father’s abduction, her body had been brought to Delhi. Nimrat Kaur said, ‘In January 1994 we were on our winter holidays and before this incident we went to meet our father in Kashmir. A few days later, Hizb-ul-Mujahideen kidnapped him from his workplace and was fired after seven days. He made some ridiculous demands for release from some terrorists, which they did not accept apparently. At the time of his death, he was just 44 years old. We got the news and we came back to Delhi with his body and I first saw his body in Delhi.
