Maruti Suzuki to launch 8 new cars in the coming years to expand its portfolio and boost sales
Maruti Suzuki has been aggressive on its new product launches in recent years. The company is gearing up for even more exciting goals ahead and its long-term projects include doubling production capacity and tripling exports from India over the next eight years. Here are listed 8 new models which will be launched in the Indian market in the next 3 to 4 years.
1. New Maruti Swift and Dezire
Maruti Suzuki will launch the new Swift in India first and after that the compact sedan will get the update. Both these cars have been spotted testing and both these models will be equipped with the new Z-series 1.2-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine. Both these vehicles will feature new powertrains and technology. Both cars get a major design makeover inside and out with far more features and equipment than before.
2. 7-seater Maruti Grand Vitara
The 7-seater Maruti Grand Vitara will compete with SUVs like XUV700 and Alcazar. This new model will be the first Maruti model to roll out of the brand's new Kharkhoda plant. At launch, it is expected to get a petrol and Toyota hybrid and CNG powertrains. In this way, Toyota can also introduce a 7-seater version of Hyrider.
3. Maruti Micro SUV Y43
This car of Maruti Suzuki will compete with micro SUVs like Tata Punch and the company wants to make inroads in the SUV market with it. It will sit below the Brezza in the micro SUV portfolio, making it the fourth model in the compact SUV segment. The Y43 is expected to arrive around October 2026 and may come alongside the Ignis in the Indian market. To please the customers, this new model will get proper SUV styling like Punch and Exeter.
4. Maruti Compact MPV YBD
Maruti Suzuki is reportedly working on a compact MPV codenamed YDB and it is expected to be priced lower than the Ertiga to take on the Renault Triber. We believe it could be based on the Spacia sold in Japan, with some cost-cutting measures to make it competitively priced.
5. Maruti EVX SUV YY8
Maruti Suzuki is planning to launch its first electric vehicle EVX in the Indian market by the end of 2024. The electric SUV was showcased in its concept form at the 2023 Auto Expo in India and has been spotted testing in the country several times. The EVX will be based on an all-new born-electric skateboard platform. It will compete with Creta and Harrier EV. This EV will be available in two battery pack options i.e. a 48 kWh unit, with a claimed range of around 400 km and a larger 60 kWh battery, which will give a range of 550 km on a single charge.
6. Maruti Electric MPV (YMC)
The Born-EV architecture is being jointly developed by Toyota and will be capable of producing multiple body styles. An all-new MPV is also under development with the upcoming EVX, which will also be Maruti's first electric MPV, which is expected to be launched in September 2026. This EV is expected to share features with the EVX including powertrain and battery options.
7. Suzuki eWX-based electric hatchback
Maruti is developing a low-cost EV on a modular electric platform (K-EV), which is likely to be an all-new EV based on the eWX concept showcased at the Japan Mobility Show. This model can be launched in 2026 or 2027. To meet aggressive cost targets, Maruti Suzuki is extensively localizing the K-EV platform, including the battery pack and cells.
