The best among Ekadashis is Mokshada Ekadashi. The fast of Ekadashi is dedicated to Lord Vishnu only, but along with him there is a tradition of worshiping Goddess Lakshmi. According to the beliefs of Brahmanda Purana, observing the fast of Mokshada Ekadashi brings happiness, prosperity and peace in the house. By observing this fast, the ancestors attain salvation and get the blessings of having children. By observing the fast of Mokshada Ekadashi, a person’s sins are destroyed.

According to the legend, there was a popular and religious king named Vaikhanas in a kingdom named Gokul. The knowledgeable people of all the Vedas resided in his kingdom. Once the king dreamed that his father was suffering a lot in hell and was praying to be taken out of hell. The king became very upset after his dream was broken. To know the reason and its solution, he called all the scholars and told them about this dream. When no one could tell anything, he suggested the king to go to the ashram of Parvat Muni who could see everything past, future and present. The king went to his ashram and after greeting him appropriately, told him the reason for his concern. Parvata Muni came to know about the sinful deeds of the king’s father through his meditation and asked him to fast on Mokshada Ekadashi. This fast falls in the best month of Margashish among all the months. The king along with his family observed a fast on Mokshada Ekadashi. The virtue gained from it was handed over to father due to which he got freedom from hell. The father was pleased and gave many blessings to the king. Prabhu Satya Krishna Das said that mankind should observe Ekadashi fast. Called for wide publicity of this fast through Radha Govind Temple. On this occasion, a large number of devotees including Temple Committee Chairman Advocate Prabhu Adikant Sarangi, Achint Mandal, Damayanti Mata Praveer Banerjee participated. After the program the devotees collectively took the Anukya (Prasad).

Ekadashi puja method:
Get up early in the morning and take bath etc.
Light a lamp in the home temple.
Anoint Lord Vishnu with Ganga water.
Offer flowers and basil leaves to Lord Vishnu.
If possible, keep a fast on this day.
Perform Aarti of God.
Offer food to God. Keep in mind that only virtuous things are offered to God. Be sure to include Tulsi in the offerings to Lord Vishnu. It is believed that Lord Vishnu does not accept food without Tulsi.
On this auspicious day, along with Lord Vishnu, also worship Goddess Lakshmi.
Meditate on God as much as possible on this day.
