Number of people entering and exiting China during May Day holiday exceeds 8 million

Beijing, May 6 (IANS). According to the Chinese National Immigration Administration Bureau, during this year's May Day holiday (from May 1 to 5), border inspection agencies across China ensured the entry and exit of 84.66 million Chinese and foreigners, an increase from last year. This is 35.1 percent more than the same period.

Customs clearance for one-day entry-exit peaked on May 3, reaching 18.01 lakh people. Of these, 47.68 lakh entries and exits were made by residents of mainland China, an increase of 38 percent compared with the same period last year. Also, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwanese residents entered and exited 29.19 million times, an increase of 20.8 percent compared with the same period last year.

According to the Chinese National Immigration Administration Bureau, border inspection departments across the country scientifically predicted the status of entry and exit passenger flows at ports. Released relevant information from time to time and stressed upon entry-exit people to arrange their travel itinerary appropriately.

Chinese border inspection departments scientifically organized their operations, opened adequate inspection channels, and strictly implemented the policy of Chinese citizens not queuing for customs clearance for more than 30 minutes.

Chinese border inspection departments have worked together to properly deal with the impact of heavy rainfall and other weather conditions on entry-exit customs clearance in the area south of the Yangtze River and other places in China, and to timely reduce immediate peak passenger flow. Work done. Thus, during the May Day holiday, customs clearance at ports across China remained safe, efficient and smooth.
