OnePlus Pad 2 may launch with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset: Here's what to expect

It's been more than a year since OnePlus launched its first tablet dubbed OnePlus Pad. Now, it's time for its successor and there's nothing but good news for it. OnePlus Pad 2 is rumored to launch soon with a more powerful chipset. As per a tipster, the company may employ a Snapdragon processor, replacing the MediaTek Dimensity chipset in the existing model.

As per Max Jambor, the OnePlus Pad 2 will be powered by a flagship-grade Snapdragon chipset. It is said to have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. This is the same chipset that powers the company's flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 12.

For those who are unaware, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is Qualcomm's most powerful mobile chipset. So, expect the upcoming OnePlus tablet to be good at gaming. This new chipset is said to replace the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 processor in the OnePlus Pad.

Other than this, the rest of the specifications of the tablet remain unknown. However, similar to its predecessor, expect it to have a 144Hz refresh rate screen and a big battery. We can also expect it to boot on Android 14 out of the box, since it's the latest Android skin publicly available.

Further, we can expect stereo speakers and extensive accessory support. The existing OnePlus tablet has a Stylus and keyboard attachment, enabling it to be used as a portable work machine.

As for its release time, the tablet is said to launch in the second half of this year. However, no exact timeline has been provided. We expect that to happen soon as we move closer to its release.

The existing OnePlus Pad is a good mid-range tablet and comes with several features. It sports an 11.61-inch IPS LCD display with a 2000 x 2800 pixels resolution. It is powered by a Dimensity 9000 processor and is paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 256G of internal storage.

The tablet has a 13MP single camera on the rear and an 8MP camera on the front for selfies. The rear camera is capable of shooting 4K videos at 30fps. As for the battery, it houses a 9,510mAh cell with 67W fast charging support. It has a stereo speaker setup for audio, however, lacks a 3.5mm headphone jack. It runs on Android 13 and has Oxygen OS 13.1 on top.

The OnePlus Pad is currently available for Rs 37,999 for the 8GB + 128GB variant and Rs 39,490 for the 12GB + 256GB variant.
