Panic due to heart attack in this district of Karnataka, 18 deaths in 1 month; Order of inquiry

In Hasan district of Karnataka, there have been 18 deaths due to heart attack last month and most of them were under 45 years of age. Many of these deaths belong to youth between 18 and 40 years of age. The state government has taken it seriously. Karnataka Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao has ordered experts to get a study done to investigate the increasing cases of heart attack in Hassan district.

What did the Health Minister say?

Posting on X on Monday, the minister said that the Health Department has taken 18 cases of heart attack in Hassan district within a month. He said, “I have already directed the officials of the department to conduct an inquiry into the increasing cases of a heart attack under the leadership of the director of ‘Jaydev Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research’ and submit a report by experts.

‘Puneet Rajkumar Hriday Jyoti’ scheme begins

According to Rao, the state government has launched the ‘Puneet Rajkumar Hriday Jyoti’ scheme to prevent cases of heart attack. However, recently there is a need to do deep research on increasing cases of heart attack in youth. Although changing lifestyle, catering and non-communicable diseases are considered to be the cause of heart problems, the cases that have been reported in Haasan have raised many questions. To find a solution, a team of experts has been instructed to research and submit a report within 10 days.

What is a heart attack?

Heart attack, called myocardial infarction in medical language, occurs when the arteries that deliver blood to the heart muscles are obstructed. This obstruction is usually caused by cholesterol deposition or blood clots. When the heart muscle does not get enough oxygen, that part can gradually be damaged.

Symptoms of heart attack

Symptoms of heart attack may include chest pressure or pain, arm, jaw, back or neck pain, shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness and nausea. If there is no treatment on time, it can be fatal. (With language inputs)
