Bengaluru, November 28 (IANS). Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s popularity is “decreasing” in the country, while the work done by his government is impacting the Telangana elections to be held on November 30.

Siddaramaiah said on social media, “There has been a wide debate on the effectiveness of our government’s guarantee schemes, which has created anxiety among BJP leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is afraid of defeat.”

Siddaramaiah also said that this election in Telangana is “not a simple fight of Congress versus BJP”, but “a contest between the honesty of the Congress and the lies of the BJP”.

He said, “Voters are well aware that the Modi government has failed to fulfill even a fraction of its promises in nine years, thereby reducing the impact of PM Modi’s campaign in Telangana. The Karnataka Congress government’s dedication to governance has significantly increased the confidence of the voters in Telangana in the Congress. Leaders like Rahul Gandhi and AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge have successfully attracted voters by highlighting the ‘Karnataka Model’ of governance in their public addresses. are doing.”

“The achievements of both our previous (2013-18) and current governments in Karnataka have generated a wave of support as our party has diligently promoted the achievements of both our previous (2013-18) and current governments in Karnataka,” he said. “The Congress is considered as the ray of hope in Telangana, Which is in complete contrast to the non-fulfillment of promises made to the people of the state by the BRS party and the BJP government at the Centre.”

Siddaramaiah said Modi’s declining popularity, as evident in the Karnataka elections, foreshadows the results in Telangana and other states. He claimed that the sidelining of regional BJP leaders by Modi and Amit Shah has led to a loss of confidence in his party at the local level.

He said, “The voters of Telangana know the role that Congress has played in the formation of the state and they are disillusioned with the empty rhetoric of BRS and rampant corruption. I am confident that this realization will help Congress in the upcoming elections. “Will set the stage for victory.”
