Pune: Ex-MLA Tingre Blames Fake Porsche Narrative for Defeat in Vadgaonsheri During Maharashtra Elections
Vadgaonsheri, 26th November 2024: In the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly elections, Nationalist Congress Party – Sharadchandra Pawar (NCP-SP) candidate Bapusaheb Pathare defeated Ajit Pawar-led NCP MLA Sunil Tingre in the Vadgaonsheri Constituency. Following his loss, Sunil Tingre made an emotional accusation, claiming the opposition spread a fake narrative about the Porsche case to defame him, ultimately leading to his defeat.
The Vadgaonsheri Constituency attracted significant attention throughout the election period. Initially, there were disputes within the Mahayuti alliance regarding candidate selection, with former MLA Jagdish Mulik demanding a ticket. However, the sitting MLA, Sunil Tingre, was ultimately chosen as the candidate. Tingre had been under scrutiny for months due to allegations of pressuring the administration to favour the minor accused in the Kalyani Nagar Porsche incident.
Commenting on his loss, ex-MLA Sunil Tingre said, “The Porsche incident brought constant criticism against me. The opposition created a fake narrative to defame me, which affected my reputation. They even falsely claimed I sent veteran leader Sharad Pawar a defamation notice, which I did not. In these elections, money won, not development.”
