There was a stampede at Bangalore stadium

The Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) has canceled the suspension order of the Karnataka government against Vikas Kumar Vikas, a senior officer of the Indian Police Service (IPS), on which action was taken in view of the horrific stampede here last month. On June 4, 11 people lost their lives in a stampede in front of M Chinnaswamy Stadium. There was a sharp criticism for planning and mob management in the case. CAT has held Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) responsible for the stampede at the stadium.

Court defended policemen

Kat said that prima facie the RCB cricket team is responsible for the huge crowd gathered in Bengaluru on 4 June. Due to which 11 people died and many people were injured in a stampede. Kat, while defending the policemen posted in the stadium, said that he is not a magician or a god.

RCB is responsible for the crowd of 3 to 5 lakhs

In its comment, the tribunal said, ‘Prima facie it appears that RCB is responsible for a crowd of about three to five million people. RCB did not take proper permission or consent from the police. Suddenly, he posted on the social media platform and the public gathered as a result of the above information.

This cannot be expected from the police in a short time of 12 hours

The tribunal criticized the last -minute announcement by RCB and has also described it as a disturbance. The court said in the order, ‘Suddenly, RCB made the above type of disturbance without any prior permission. The police cannot be expected that in a short time of about 12 hours, the police, the police act or other rules etc. will make all the necessary arrangements.

Police does not have ‘Aladdin’s lamp’- tribunal

The IPL franchise had posted on social media about the victory parade ceremony on 4 June the next day of its first IPL victory. The tribunal also defended the role of the police, saying, ‘Police personnel are also humans. They are neither ‘God’ nor magicians nor magical powers like ‘Aladdin’s lamp’ which can fulfill any desire by just rubbing finger. ‘
