Sambhal, 26 November (IANS). Advocate Zafar Ali, who represented the Muslim side in the Shahi Jama Masjid case in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, spoke to IANS on Monday on the death of four people in the violence there.
He said that Sambhal SDM and CO are responsible for the incident that happened in Sambhal. The information about the survey was given a few hours ago. The allegation being made on the Muslim side is that it was well planned from our side. I want to say that there was nothing from our side. The violence in Sambhal was well-planned by the police administration.
Zafar Ali said that SDM and CO are responsible for the death of four people. The SDM forcefully vacated the place for performing ablution in the Shahi Jama Masjid due to which people felt that digging was going on. Due to this the public became furious.
He said that he was with the survey team during the survey. Nothing was found in the survey.
He has said that there was no firing towards the Muslim side in the Sambhal violence. He claimed that bullets were being fired by the police and “I am a witness to it”.
It is noteworthy that the survey of Shahi Jama Masjid of Sambhal was done on the morning of 24th November. Police say that during this time, unruly elements pelted stones at the survey team near the mosque. The atmosphere started deteriorating in no time. The police released tear gas shells to control the situation and also warned the unruly elements. Four people died during the violence.
