Navbharat Digital Desk: Ekadashi fast is considered very important in Sanatan Dharma. Ekadashi date is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, the sustainer of the world. Ekadashi comes twice every month. One in Krishna Paksha and the other in Shukla Paksha. This time the Ekadashi of the month of February 2024 i.e. 'Shattila Ekadashi' (Shattila Ekadashi 2024) is today i.e. 6th February, Tuesday.

According to the scriptures, on this day the devotees keep a fast for Lord Vishnu and seek his blessings of happiness and peace. Ekadashi of Krishna Paksha of Magh month is known as Shattila Ekadashi. According to the Panchang, the Shattila Ekadashi tithi will start on February 5 at 5:24 pm and the next day i.e. on February 6, the tithi will end at 4:07 pm. This time Shattila Ekadashi fast is on 6th February.

It is told in the scriptures that on the day of Shattila Ekadashi, wake up early in the morning and take bath and meditate. Keep in mind that mix sesame seeds in water and take bath. After that, clean the place of worship and wear clean clothes. Then light a lamp and take a pledge to fast and worship Lord Vishnu with rituals. Offer barley, sesame seeds, fragrance, flowers, incense sticks and lamps to Lord Vishnu. After this, recite Sahasranama Stotra of Lord Vishnu and conclude the puja with Aarti.

religious significance

There is a mythological belief that by observing Shattila Ekadashi fast, a person gets freedom from all sins. On this day, one should wake up in Brahma Muhurta and take bath and worship Lord Vishnu and Tulsi. By observing Shattila Ekadashi fast, diseases are destroyed. On this day, one should chant the mantras of Shri Hari and meditate on the Lord.
