Varanasi: In a shocking incident, a policeman was allegedly beaten up by a mob after his car reportedly bruised an auto in front of his horrifies family in Varanasi. While the cop initially tried to fightback, but was outnumbered.

The policeman was without his uniform at the time. He was travelling with his wife and children when the incident took place. The aggressive mob refused to even listen to him in spite of him informing them that he was a policeman.

The victim was dragged out of the car

Soon after his car hit an auto, road rage ensued after which he was dragged out of the car and beaten up. The policeman identified himself as Ajit Verma, the Station Head Officer (SHO) of Rajatalab, but the attackers did not listen to him. Some of the attackers even beat him with sticks.

Soon, a police team from the nearby police station reached the spot and rescued Verma from the clutches of his attackers Both sides then filed complaints against each other at the police station.

A similar incident in Delhi last month

Earlier in October, a father-son duo were arrested for allegedly thrashing a Delhi Police SHO and a constable. The officer had reportedly stopped a man’s bike which was illegally fitted with a noisy silencer. The incident took place in Delhi’s Jamia Nagar when the SHO was out on a night patrol. Soon after noticing that a bike was making a loud noise, he stopped the bike for inspection. He then initiated legal action after noticing that the bike was illegally notified.

However, the biker Asif (24), called his father, identified as Riyazuddin, who tried to take away the bike and threatened the SHO. Even as the SHO refused to release the bike Riyazuddin grabbed Narpal Singh, after which Asif hit him near his eye However, the father-son duo was soon overpowered and an FIR was filed in the case.
