STF arrested two wildlife criminals
Bhubaneswar. The Special Task Force (STF) of the Odisha Crime Branch on Saturday arrested two wildlife criminals from Raigad district and seized a live pangolin and other incriminating material from their possession. STF sources gave this information.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of STF conducted a raid on National Highway-326 (Berhampur-Rayagada) near Akhusingichowk under Padampur police station area of Raigarh district and arrested the wildlife criminals, sources said.
The STF has identified the accused as Samson Raita (45) of Gajapati district and Asmeen Sabar (28) of Raigarh. During the search, a live pangolin along with other incriminating material was recovered from their possession. The case has been registered under sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Wildlife (Protection) Act.
He said that the accused will be presented in the court of SDJM, Gunupur. The surviving pangolin was handed over to DFO for safe custody. The inspection of the matter is going on.
