Sunil Gavaskar is impressed by Yashasvi Jaiswal, praises the young batsman
After defeating South Africa 2-1 at home in the ODI series, the Indian team is now ready to face the African team in a 2-match Test series. This test series between the two teams is going to start from 26th December. Veteran batsmen like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli are going to return to the Indian team from the Test series. However, meanwhile, former Indian batsman Sunil Gavaskar said that young batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal can create a stir in this series.
Talking about Yashasvi Jaiswal's batting on Star Sports, Sunil Gavaskar said, 'Yes, it will be a test for him. I believe that even in these circumstances he has the ability to do well. What I have seen from him in Test matches is that he plays the ball very late and his head remains very steady. He plays the ball very late. He likes to give time to himself.
Gavaskar did not stop here, he further praised Jaiswal and said, 'He is a good short ball player and is not afraid of playing pull shots. I think when the Kookaburra ball is used in places like South Africa and Australia, the first 12 overs are important because after that the ball does not make any movement. If you play comfortably for 12 overs then you can bat well. If you are a good batsman then no one can get you out.
Let us tell you that Yashasvi Jaiswal made his debut in the Test series against West Indies. Jaiswal had played an innings of 171 runs in his debut match itself. He scored a total of 266 runs in the 2-match Test series.
