Supreme Court’s advice to the protesting farmers
New Delhi. The Supreme Court has given advice to the farmers agitating at the Khanauri border connecting Haryana and Punjab. During the hearing on Monday, the court asked farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal to explain to the protesting farmers that they should not block the highways and take care of the facilities to the people.
Dallewal was picked up by the police from Khanauri border, but now during the hearing in the court, it was told that he has been released from the alleged custody by the police. After this he once again joined the protests. Along with him, many farmers are fasting unto death with many demands including making a law to guarantee MSP.
While hearing Dallewal’s petition, the Supreme Court bench said that in a democratic system you can hold peaceful protests but do not cause inconvenience to the people. The bench of Justice Surya Kant and Justice Ujjwal Bhuyan said that Dallewal was picked up from Khanauri border on November 26. Now he has been released again and was also seen convincing his comrades to end the fast unto death. The bench told the lawyer Guninder Kaur Gill, appearing for Dallewal, that you should keep in mind that the public should not be inconvenienced by the agitation.
