BCCI has taken a big decision before the IPL 2025 resumes. Now teams will be able to sign the Temporary Replacement player in the absence of foreign players, but these players will not be able to retain before the next auction. These rules will apply to those players who will currently join the teams.

The IPL 2025, which has been stopped for a few days due to Indo-Pak tension, is now going to resume from 17 May. Meanwhile, a major change has been made in the league. Now teams can sign temporary replacement players, especially in place of foreign players who have left tournaments due to national duty or personal reasons.

Foreign stars like DC’s Jack Fraser-Macgarck have left IPL in the middle. In view of these conditions, the IPL has changed the rules and said that now the temporary replacement can be taken by the end of the tournament. However, the IPL Governing Council has made it clear that these replacement players will not be able to retain before the next season. Meaning, if a player now joins the team, he will have to register again in the 2026 auction.

Just 4 players were included as a replacement just before the league was suspended-Luan-Dre Pretorius and Nandre Burger (Rajasthan Royals), Mayank Agarwal (RCB), and Sidikulla Atal (Delhi Capitals). All these players will be able to retain for the next season.

Delhi Capitals have also included Bangladesh’s left-arm fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman in the team on Wednesday, 14 May.
