Retirement: At one time, three veterans, considered the backbone of the Indian cricket team, are now gradually getting out of Test cricket. These three players have taken India out of many difficult situations, but now their career has started to be questioned due to reasons like age, form and fitness. Their return is almost impossible now, due to which these legends can announce retirement at any time.

1. Ajinkya Rahane

Ajinkya Rahane, who once considered India’s most trusted batsman on foreign pitches, is now considered to be over. For the last few years, Rahane has been constantly struggling with poor form. Since 2021-22, he was repeatedly out and inside the team, but he could not leave any significant impact. In the World Test Championship Final 2023, he definitely played a good innings once, but since then he has not seen the rhythm again. Now, given the performance of young batsmen, Rahane’s return looks almost impossible.

2. Cheteshwar Pujara

Cheteshwar Pujara has been called the new wall of India’s Test batting for a long time, but now his defensive style and slow batting have been influenced by the team’s balance. He has played many historic innings against teams like Australia and England, but recently he did not go well. Team management is now giving more priority to aggressive and young players. Pujara is now limited to domestic cricket and potentially he has played his last Test match long ago.

3. Mohammed Shami

Mohammed Shami is one of India’s most successful Test fast bowlers, but his fitness has become a big question in the last one and a half years. He is running out of the Test team due to frequent injuries and now Jaspreet Bumrah, Mohammad Siraj, famous Krishna and young bowlers have strengthened their place in the team. No one can deny Shami’s experience, but the chances of his return seem to be very low now. In such a situation, it is possible that he should soon retire from red ball cricket and focus only on limited overs.
