Role in Kargil’s fight
Actually, the battle of Kargil had started in the year 1999. For this, Operation Vijay was conducted by the Indian Army, so that the hills of Kargil could be captured back after defeating the enemies. At the same time, Subedar Major Sanjay Kumar started his service as a young rifleman in the 13th battalion of Jammu and Kashmir Rifles. Meanwhile, during Operation Vijay on 4 July 1999, the team of young Sanjay Kumar was tasked to capture Point 4875 in Mushkoh Valley. The Pakistani army was heavily firing with automatic weapons. Due to this, the speed of the Indian Army started slowing down. In such a situation, Rifleman Sanjay Kumar, while sensing the seriousness of the situation, attacked the enemy directly regardless of his safety.
Rifleman Sanjay Kumar’s indomitable courage
After the attack of Sanjay Kumar, the speed of the Pakistani army slowed down a bit. After this, Rifleman Sanjay Kumar killed three Pakistani intruders in a face-to-face battle. However, Sanjay Kumar was also seriously injured in this firing. Sanjay Kumar did not stop the attack on the enemies despite being injured and after that Sanjay Kumar also attacked the second position of enemies. With this, the enemies left behind a universal machine gun and started fleeing from there. The Pakistani soldiers had left the UMG. Sanjay Kumar picked up the same UMG and attacked the enemies running away.
Sanjay Kumar was made Subedar Major
Sanjay Kumar also killed Pakistan enemies while running away. However, Sanjay Kumar was bleeding a lot due to injuries, but he refused to get out of the fight. His brave action encouraged his colleagues. After this, he attacked the enemy without caring about inaccessible areas and snatched the point 4875 area from the enemy. India won the battle of Kargil thanks to many more soldiers like Rifleman Sanjay Kumar. However, in this war we lost many of our soldiers as well. Point 4875 was honored with the Paramveer Chakra, the country’s highest valor honor in the year 2022, for snatching the enemy from the enemy and introducing his might. Also, Sanjay Kumar, the instructor of the National Defense Academy, was promoted to the post of Subedar Major for dedication and loyalty to the army. When Sanjay Kumar was honored, the NDA issued a statement saying that he is a source of inspiration for the leadership of the Indian armed forces training and a living example of true military courage and valor.
