US President-elect Donald Trump met Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida on Friday. During this, major bilateral issues including trade, tariffs, border security and drug trafficking were discussed.

After the meeting, Trump posted on the social media platform Truth Social that his meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was very good. Many important issues including trade, illegal migration were discussed. Earlier on Saturday, Trudeau told the media that he and Trump had an excellent conversation. “Thanks for dinner, President Trump,” the Canadian PM posted on Twitter. I look forward to the work we can do together again.

However, during the conversation, Trump did not talk about backing down from the threat of 25 percent tariff. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau returned home on Saturday without any assurances after his meeting with Donald Trump. The special thing is that this visit to Florida was not included in the list of Trudeau’s public programs.

It is noteworthy that Trump announced on Monday that as soon as he takes office, he will impose a 25 percent tariff on all products coming from Canada and Mexico.
