Union Home Minister Amit Shah has been in public life for a long time now. Before taking over duties at the Centre he was a minister in the Gujarat Cabinet, led by then CM Narendra Modi. He will attend the TV9 Satta Sammelan, which is part of TV9’s ‘What India Thinks Today’ Global Summit, on February 27.

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will attend the TV9 Satta Sammelan, which is part of TV9’s ‘What India Thinks Today’ Global Summit, on February 27. He will express his candid views during a keynote interview on the theme ‘Nepathya ka Nayak’ (The Master Strategist).

Amit Shah, who is currently the Union Home Minister of India, has served the public since decades. He served as MLA in the Gujarat Assembly between 1997 and 2017. He was elected from Sarkhej Assembly Constituency for four consecutive elections and from Naranpura Assembly Constituency in 2012. In 2017, Shah was elected to the Upper House of Parliament (Rajya Sabha). In the 2019 General Elections, he won the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha seat with a margin of over 5 lakh votes.

In a recent interaction with the media, Shah urged people to elect PM Narendra Modi to office once again if they want India to become a developed nation. He said that this was essential to make ‘Bharat Mata’ a ‘Vishwa Guru’. He further said that the upcoming General Elections will decide the future of the country.

Shah has also often highlighted the welfare work done by the Modi government in the past 10 years. He highlighted that the Central Government has worked to pull out 25 crore people out of poverty. He also said that the Centre is working towards providing houses, tap water and electricity to all the poor people and also providing ration to crores of citizens every month. He has often asserted that since the BJP came to power, terrorist attacks stopped and the country’s economy rose exponentially.

Before becoming the Union Home Minister, he had served as the Home Minister of Gujarat for two terms. He also served the Ministry of Police Housing, Border Security, Civil Defence, Home Guards, Gram Rakshak Dal, Prison, Prohibition, Excise, Transport, in the Gujarat government led by then-CM Narendra Modi.

He was the President of Gujarat Cricket Association and the Gujarat State Chess Association. Apart from this, he also led the Ahmedabad District Cooperative Bank Limited, as its director. Since February 2016, he has been one of the trustees of the Somnath Trust which oversees functioning of the famous Somnath Temple in Gujarat.

Shah has risen to the top leadership of the BJP from the grassroots. He joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and later became an active member of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). He was the Ahmedabad unit Secretary of ABVP. Given his key strategy-making skills, Shah has served as in-charge of several election campaigns of the national leaders, including that of LK Advani in 1991 and Atal Bihari Vajpayee in 1996. Both leaders had contested the Gandhinagar Parliamentary constituency. PM Narendra Modi chose Shah as his chief campaigner during the 2001 Assembly Elections in Gujarat. The current PM had contested the Rajkot-2 Assembly constituency.
