‘Uniform Civil Code’ will soon be implemented in Uttarakhand: Chief Minister Dhami
Chief Minister Dhami inaugurated Uttarakhand Mahotsav in Lucknow
Lucknow, 31 October (Hindustan Reporter). Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the Uttarakhand Mahotsav here on Tuesday. Regarding the festival organized by Uttarakhand General Council, he said that such events are an excellent medium to know our culture and spread it to the country and the world.
‘Uniform Civil Code’ will soon be implemented in Uttarakhand: Chief Minister Dhami
The Chief Minister said that by taking strict action against illegal encroachment on government land in Uttarakhand, we have freed about 3300 acres of government land. Along with this, while on one hand we have brought strict laws against ‘conversion and love jihad’, on the other hand we are also preparing to implement ‘Uniform Civil Code’ in the state soon. In Uttarakhand, we have also implemented the country’s strictest ‘anti-copying law’, after the implementation of which today our youth are participating in competitive examinations with enthusiasm and are achieving success as per their ability.
He said that events like Uttarakhand Mahotsav are not only preserving our folk heritage but also introducing the coming generations to the folk culture. This Uttarakhand Mahotsav, which provides an opportunity to know the nation and culture firsthand, will definitely work to deepen social harmony for our future generations. He said that through organizing such festivals, the artists of our state also get a platform and their art is encouraged. The Chief Minister said that today under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the cultural glory of not only Uttarakhand but also the entire country is increasing.
Chief Minister Dhami said that during his recent visit to London, Dubai and Abu Dhabi, he saw that even today our Indians and especially the people of Uttarakhand have not forgotten their culture and civilization. They are working to advance Indian culture and traditions even while living on foreign soil. After meeting Uttarakhandi brothers and sisters in London and Dubai, for a moment it felt as if they were in Uttarakhand only. He is having similar experience after coming to Lucknow also.
In today’s times, it is very important to save one’s culture and traditions, because a person cut off from his soil, his culture and his traditions, like a hung man, neither belongs here nor there. Therefore, if we want to move forward, we will have to stay connected to our traditions and culture. He appealed to the people of Uttarakhand living in Lucknow to visit their respective villages once or twice a year. This will not only make our future generations familiar with the traditions of Uttarakhand, but will also promote the culture and folk traditions of Uttarakhand.
The Chief Minister said that he has spent his student life in Lucknow. Whenever he comes to Lucknow, it feels like he has come to his own city again. On this occasion, he also paid tribute to the founder president of Uttarakhand Maha Parishad (formerly Kumaon Parishad), the first Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Bharat Ratna P. Govind Ballabh Pant, Late Dayakrishna Joshi, Late Major Hayat Singh, Late Shri Narayan Dutt Tiwari.
On this occasion, Chief Minister Dhami released Puran Singh Jeena’s book Satrangi and honored Chandan Singh Mehra and Satyaprakash Joshi with Diamond Jubilee Award of Uttarakhand General Council. Uttar Pradesh Minister of State Brijesh Singh, Lucknow Mayor Sushma Kharkwal, Uttarakhand General Council officials Diwan Singh Adhikari, Devendra Singh Bisht and a large number of expatriates from Uttarakhand were present in the programme.
