Chettry replaces Bhatia for AUS ODIs

Meanwhile, Uma Chetry has replaced wicketkeeper-batter Yastika Bhatia for the upcoming ODI series in Australia.  Bhatia was ruled out of the series due to a wrist injury she suffered during the ongoing WBBL. As Bhatia’s replacement, India have called up Chetry, who is yet to make her ODI debut.

While Chetry has no experience of playing in the 50-over format, she has featured in four T20Is, all this year. She made her international debut against South Africa in July. Chetry has been rewarded for her prolific form in domestic cricket as she ended as the second-highest run-getter in the domestic T20 Challenger Trophy with 231 runs at a strike rate of 154.00 earlier this month. She was the only player to score a hundred in the competition.

Chetry recently toured Australia with India A side but failed to make a notable impact.

A cricket buff and football fanatic, I am one of those who love an underdog story. I have had working stints with some of the most prominent media organisations in the country including Zee Sports, Ten Sports, ESPN, NDTV.
