Utilize India’s dual AI capabilities: PM Modi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday called on the police leadership to convert challenges into opportunities by harnessing the dual AI power of India’s Artificial Intelligence and ‘Aspirational India’.
Addressing the 59th All India Conference of Directors General (DGP) and Inspectors General of Police (IGP) in Bhubaneswar, the PM urged the police leadership to turn the challenge into an opportunity by harnessing the dual AI power of India’s Artificial Intelligence and ‘Aspirational India’. called upon. ,
He said that national and international dimensions of security challenges were widely discussed during the conference and expressed satisfaction at the response strategies that emerged from the discussions.
PM Modi expressed concern about digital fraud, cyber crime and the potential threats posed by AI technology, especially the potential of deepfakes to disrupt social and family ties. He expanded the mantra of smart policing and called upon the police to be strategic, meticulous, adaptable, reliable and transparent.
Appreciating the initiatives taken in urban policing, he suggested that each initiative should be pooled and fully implemented in 100 cities of the country.
The PM called for the use of technology to reduce the workload of constables and suggested that the police station be made the focal point for resource allocation.
Discussing the success of the hackathon in solving some of the major problems, he suggested to discuss organizing a National Police Hackathon.
PM Modi also highlighted the need to increase focus on port security and prepare a future action plan for it.
Recalling the contributions of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel to the Home Ministry, he inspired the entire security establishment from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to the police station level to resolve to pay tribute to his 150th birth anniversary next year. and achieve a target on any aspect which improves the image, professionalism and capabilities of the police.
The Prime Minister urged the police to modernize and align themselves with the vision of a ‘developed India’.
He also distributed President’s Police Medals for distinguished service to Intelligence Bureau (IB) officers.
PM Modi provided insights during the proceedings and laid out a roadmap for the future.
During the conference, there were in-depth discussions on existing and emerging challenges to national security including terrorism, left-wing extremism, cyber crime, economic security, immigration, coastal security and narco-trafficking.
Emerging security concerns along the border with Bangladesh and Myanmar, trends in urban policing and strategies to counter malicious narratives were also discussed.
Additionally, the implementation of newly enacted key criminal laws, initiatives and best practices in policing as well as the security situation in the neighborhood were also reviewed.
The conference, organized in a hybrid format, was also attended by the Union Home Minister, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, National Security Advisor, Minister of State for Home and Union Home Secretary, Director General of Police and Inspector General of Police of all States and Union Territories. The Chiefs of CAPFs and CPOs participated physically and virtually along with over 750 officers of various ranks from all States and Union Territories.
