Vice Admiral Dinesh Tripathi becomes 26th Navy Chief

New Delhi. Vice Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi (Vice Admiral Dinesh Tripathi) took charge as the 26th Navy Chief of the country in New Delhi on Tuesday. Earlier he offered floral tributes at the National War Memorial. After the Guard of Honor in South Block, he took charge from outgoing Navy Chief Admiral R Hari Kumar.

On April 19, the Central Government appointed Vice Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi (Vice Admiral Dinesh Tripathi) was appointed the next Chief of the Indian Navy. He was currently serving as Vice Chief of Naval Staff in the Navy. Admiral R Hari Kumar, who took charge as the country's 25th Navy Chief on November 30, 2021, retired on the afternoon of April 30. Therefore, Vice Admiral Tripathi took charge as the new Navy Chief today itself. Before this, he was given a guard of honor in South Block. As per tradition, he paid tribute to the martyrs by laying a floral wreath at the National War Memorial. He took blessings from his mother Rajni Tripathi before taking charge as the new Indian Navy Chief.

Vice Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi was commissioned into the executive branch of the Indian Navy on July 01, 1985. He has had a distinguished service of about 39 years so far in the Navy. He has expertise in communications and electronic warfare. Before assuming charge as the Vice Chief of the Naval Staff, he had served as the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Naval Command. He has been awarded the Param Vishisht Seva Medal, Ati Vishisht Seva Medal and Navy Medal.

Vice Admiral DK Tripathi has taken command of Indian Navy ships Vinash, Kirch and Trishul. He has also held various important operational and staff appointments, including Operations Officer Western Fleet, Director of Naval Operations, Principal Director, Network Centric Operations at New Delhi and Principal Director, Naval Plans. As a Rear Admiral he has served as the Assistant Chief of the Naval Staff (Policy and Plans) and Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet.

In the rank of Vice Admiral, he has served as Commandant of the prestigious Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala, Director General of Naval Operations, Chief of Personnel and Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Naval Command. An alumnus of Sainik School, Rewa and National Defense Academy Khadakwasla, Vice Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi has completed courses at the Defense Services Staff College, Wellington, Naval Higher Command Course, Karanja and the Naval Command College at United States Naval War College, USA.
