When a “Room Temperature” Vada Pav Becomes Grounds for Physical Assault in Pune
Balewadi, 14th November 2024: A seemingly minor grievance over the temperature of a Vada Pav turned into a shocking incident of physical assault in Pune, highlighting the extremes of customer frustration. The altercation occurred at Shivkripa Snacks Centre in Balewadi when a customer, dissatisfied with being served a cold Vada Pav, physically attacked the operator of the snack centre.
Prakashchandra Shankarlal Joshi, 45, who runs the eatery, filed a complaint at the Baner Police Station, naming Ankush Kondiba Dhebe, 23, and two accomplices as the attackers. According to Joshi, the incident began when Dhebe and his friends ordered Vada Pav around noon. Upon receiving the food at room temperature instead of hot, Dhebe became agitated and began arguing with Joshi. The argument quickly escalated with Dhebe throwing a tea thermos, which broke, and then hurling a glass jar at Joshi. The jar struck Joshi on the head and hand, causing injury. The trio then fled the scene, leaving the snack centre damaged.
Joshi was able to report the incident to the police, and Baner Police have registered a case and are investigating the matter further. The violent response to a simple mistake serves as a reminder of how customer dissatisfaction, even over small issues, can sometimes lead to unexpected consequences.
