When is Radha Ashtami?
This year the festival of Radha Ashtami will be celebrated on 10th September. Ashtami Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada month will start at 10:11 pm on 10th September and will continue till 11:46 pm on 11th September. It is believed in Sanatan Dharma that the date is counted from the rising of the Sun, hence the festival of Radha Ashtami will be celebrated on 11th September only.
Radha Ashtami Puja auspicious time
On the day of Radha Ashtami, worship should be done only in auspicious time. This will give you special benefits. Performing puja in auspicious time gives special benefits and wishes are fulfilled. The time to worship Radha Ashtami is from 11:3 am in the morning to 1:32 pm.
Importance of Radha Ashtami fast
Just as the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna is celebrated with great pomp across the country, similarly Radha Ashtami is also celebrated in Mathura, Vrindavan and Barsana. It is written in the scriptures that fasting on Radha Ashtami destroys all sins. By observing fast on this day, women get the happiness of children and unbroken good fortune.
Lord Shri Krishna automatically becomes pleased with those who please Radha ji. By fasting on this day, Goddess Lakshmi comes to the house and wishes are fulfilled.
Rules of Radha Ashtami fast
On the day of Radha Ashtami, one should wake up at Brahma Bela and start the day by meditating on Radha Rani.
On this day, one should take bath with Ganga water and then after placing water on the palm, chant Ganga water thrice and chant ‘Om’.
Keshavaya Namah Om Narayanaya Namah Om Madhavaya Namah Om Hrishikeshay Namah’ should be chanted three times.
After this, after cleaning the house and the temple, spread a red cloth on the post and place the idol of Radha-Krishna. Light a desi ghee lamp in front of them and then chant mantras.
During the puja, pray to Radha Rani for the happiness, prosperity and peace of the family.
Keep fast for the whole day and eat fruits after Aarti in the evening and worship again the next day and break the fast.
