Santan Saptami will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 10, 2024. In such a situation, those who want to keep this fast should keep the fast on 10th September only.

Importance of Santan Saptami

This fast is observed every year on the seventh day of Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada month. This year Saptami Tithi is falling on 10th September. Saptami Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada month will start on 9th September at 9.53 pm which will end the next day on 10th September at 11.11 pm. In this fast, Lord Shankar and Mother Parvati are duly worshipped. Both men and women can observe this fast. Lord Sun is also worshiped on the day of Santan Saptami. This fast is considered best for the happiness and prosperity of children.

Santan Saptami Puja Method

On the day of Santan Saptami fast, wake up early in the morning and take bath.

Take a pledge to fast and worship before Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati.

Parents should start fasting immediately after completing the morning purification rituals to ensure the bright future of their children.

Before starting the fast, take a pledge for the safety of your child and then worship Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu.

Spread a red cloth on an altar and install an idol of Shiva family on it.

After giving a sacred bath to the deities with hemp water, apply sandalwood paste on the idols.

Put water, betel nut, intact, one rupee coin in an urn, place mango branches in it, add rice in it and light a lamp over it.

14 puas made of flour and sugar should be placed on a banana leaf. Sometimes kheer and puri are also offered.

Before offering Bhog, basil leaves should be soaked in holy water and rotated towards the idol of God and then kept inside the Bhog.

Panchopachar should be done systematically with fruits, flowers, incense, lamp etc. Now a silver thread should be tied on the idol of Lord Shiva, which should be tied on the right wrist of the child after purifying it with milk and water in the presence of God.

This puja starts only after 12 noon. Therefore, it is very auspicious and better to conclude the fast by noon.
