Colonel Sophia Qureshi ASEAN Plus has achieved the distinction of becoming the first female officer to lead the Indian Army training team in Multinational Regional Training Exercise Force 18 (in 2016). She was the only female officer contingent commander in all ASEAN Plus troops. In March 2016, she became the first female officer to lead an army contingent in a multinational military exercise.
This exercise named ‘Exercise Force 18’ was the largest foreign military exercise ever organized by India. It consisted of members of India, Japan, China, Russia, America, Korea, New Zealand and Australia as well as ASEAN (South-East Asian countries).
