Reports of internal discord within the Congress party government in Karnataka were constantly coming out. There was a possibility that the party could change the Chief Minister in the state. Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge had said in this case that the party high command will decide in this regard. After this, Randeep Singh Surjewala, in -charge of Karnataka affairs of Congress, was also meeting the party MLAs in Karnataka. However, now Surjewala has made it clear that there will be no leadership change in Karnataka. That is, it has now become clear that the post of CM in Karnataka will remain with Siddaramaiah. According to the information, along with this, MLAs have been advised to talk in the party forum about differences.

What was the reason for the meeting?

In Karnataka, Congress General Secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala held meetings with party MLAs amidst reports of change and dissatisfaction of leadership change within the ruling party Congress. However, it has been claimed by the party that this is only a meeting related to the organization. A meeting has been held to know whether the government’s programs and free guarantee is reaching people or not.

What did Mallikarjun Kharge say?

Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge issued a statement on the ongoing discussion on the possibility of changing the Chief Minister in Karnataka. He had said that the high command of the Congress party will decide on such matters. Mallikarjun Kharge had also instructed the party leaders that no one should cause unnecessary problems.

What did CM Siddaramaiah say on speculation?

CM Siddaramaiah also made a statement amidst the discussion on the changes of leadership change in Karnataka or the possibilities of changing the CM. He had said that the Congress government in Karnataka will remain strong like a rock for five years. Siddaramaiah also said that he and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivkumar have good relations.

Why is there a dispute?

Actually, in the year 2023, the Congress party government was formed in Karnataka. At that time, Siddaramaiah and DK Shivkumar were at the forefront in the race for the post of CM. However, the Congress high command then handed over the post of CM to Siddaramaiah. Since then, there has been continuous speculation that Siddaramaiah and DK Shivkumar will take over as Chief Minister for two and a half years. The Congress party has neither confirmed this claim nor rejected it. Please tell that DK Shivkumar has the post of Deputy CM.
