One question among them is whether Mahaparva Chhath will be celebrated if there is a mother (a woman giving birth to a newborn baby) in the house? In such a situation, let us try to answer this question by quoting the classical belief and tell you in detail about other features of Chhath Mahaparva.
Chhath Puja 2024: Will the great festival Chhath be celebrated when there is a child in the house?
Maternity means a woman who has recently given birth to a child. In such a situation, if there is a pregnant woman in your house on Chhath Puja 2024, then will Chhath Mahaparv be celebrated? This is a big question? Generally, Sutak period is mentioned after the birth of the child. According to the classical belief, at the time of the birth of a child, the mother and the child remain impure for a few days. In such a situation, it is prohibited to perform worship or religious rituals, go to the temple or any other religious place during the fixed period (the duration of Sutak is different for different classes).
Talking about Chhath Puja, on this day women go to Chhath Ghat and worship Chhath Mata and Sun God. In such a situation, if a child is born in your house on the day of Chhath Mahaparva or a few days before, then Chhath Mahaparva cannot be celebrated except on the occasion of pregnancy. This is the classical opinion. However, there are alternative arrangements for this. According to the classical belief, in such a situation, fasting women can observe the fast without worshiping or reaching the ghat with any faith in their mind. Apart from this, all the items required for Chhath Puja can be given to another woman and she can be asked to fast. By doing this you can celebrate Chhath festival on the occasion of delivery at home.
Importance of Chhath festival
Chhath Mahaparva (Chhath Puja 2024) has special religious significance. If mythology is to be believed, its roots are linked to Satyayuga and Dwapar Yuga. It is believed that Lord Ram, who returned to Ayodhya after killing Ravana, had the sin of killing Ravana. To get free from this, he took advice from sages and performed Rajasuya Yagya. For this Yagya, Mugdal Rishi called Lord Ram and Mother Sita to his ashram. According to the sage, Mother Sita worshiped Sun God and observed a fast on the sixth day of Kartik Shukla. From here the history of Chhath Mahaparva is also connected to the Ramayana period.
