After retiring from Test cricket, the question was arising in the minds of the fans whether Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma nowRohit Sharma) Will be excluded from grade A+ contract? But the BCCI has made it clear that both the legends are still part of Team India and their A+ grade will remain intact. That is, there will be no cut in facilities and respect.

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have recently said goodbye to Test cricket. Rohit announced his retirement on 7 May and Kohli on May 12, but despite this the BCCI has maintained him in Grade A+.

BCCI Secretary Debjit Saikia made it clear in a conversation with ANI that Rohit and Kohli’s A+ contract will continue. He said, “Even though both have retired from Test and T20, they are still part of the Indian team and they will get all the facilities of Grade A+.”

The annual contract list announced for 2024-25 also includes Kohli, Rohit along with Jaspreet Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja in the A+ grade. Generally, only three players playing all three formats are kept in this grade, but this time only Bumrah is active in all three formats.

Kohli scored 9230 runs in 123 matches in his 14 -year Test career. He has 30 centuries and 31 half -centuries. He has also been India’s most successful Test captain – win 40 out of 68 matches. He created history by winning the Test series in Australia in 2019 and also brought India to the first WTC final.

At the same time, Rohit Sharma made his debut against West Indies in 2013 and scored 177 runs in Kolkata. He scored 4301 runs in 67 Tests, including 12 centuries and 18 fifty. Under Rohit’s captaincy, India reached the WTC final in 2023 and played his last Test against Australia in Melbourne in 2024.

It is clear from the BCCI’s decision that even though the two veterans are not playing the format, Kohli and Rohit’s stature still remains in Indian cricket.
