Birthday wishes and greetings from across the nation are pouring in for Tamil Superstar Rajinikanth, who is celebrating his 73rd birthday on Tuesday, 12 December.

First among those who greeted the Superstar were his son-in-law Dhanush and his nephew-cum-music director Anirudh Ravichander.

Taking to platform X, Dhanush — a self-confessed fan of Rajinikanth — wrote, “Happy birthday Thalaiva @rajinikanth.

Anirudh, in his birthday wishes, said, “Happy birthday to the emperor 👑Thalaiva Rajinikanth.”

Several actors, including Varalaxhmi Sarathkumar, were among the first to greet the Superstar.

Bollywood actor Jackie Shroff posted a video of him greeting Rajinikanth and wrote: “Happiness always Rajinikanth.”

The greetings were not just from the film industry.

Several sportspersons, politicians, businessmen, and film buffs also greeted the Tamil Superstar.

As always, fans began the birthday celebrations of their favourite star from the night before.

In a theatre on the outskirts of Chennai, fans gathered to watch Rajinikanth’s superhit film Muthu and cut a birthday cake at midnight.

They weren’t the only ones to cut a birthday cake for the gracefully ageing star.

On platform X, many fans posted video clips of cutting cakes for Rajinikanth’s birthday at their residences.

A fan named Selvan from Thirukovilur in Tamil Nadu’s Kallakurichi chose to greet Rajinikanth uniquely for his birthday. An artist, Selvam chose to have his hands tied to a lamp post, imitating a scene from Rajinikanth’s Baasha (1995), even as he drew a picture of Rajinikanth with his mouth.

The number of birthday wishes that continue to pour in for Rajinikanth from across the country made his birthday a trending topic on Platform X.
