On these days, Goddess of wealth Lakshmi is worshiped along with Lord Kuber. Also, buying utensils along with gold and silver on the day of Dhanteras is considered auspicious. This is the religious belief regarding Dhanteras

Every year the festival of Dhanteras is celebrated on the Trayodashi date of Krishna Paksha of Kartik month. There is a mythological belief that if any item is purchased on this day, it gives 13 times the reward. Devotees do not face shortage of money throughout the year.

Mythological significance of Dhanteras festival

According to the legend, on the Trayodashi date of Krishna Paksha of Kartik month, Lord Dhanvantari appeared from the churning of the ocean with a pot full of nectar. He is considered to be an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. The festival of Dhanteras is also celebrated as the festival of appearance of Lord Dhanvantari.

Auspicious time for Dhanteras worship

Kartik Krishna Trayodashi Tithi will start on November 10 at 12.35 pm. This date will remain till 1.57 minutes in the afternoon on 11th November. Lord Ganesha, Lakshmi and Kuber are worshiped in the evening during Pradosh period on the day of Dhanteras. The auspicious time of puja will start from 5.47 in the evening and will last till 7.47 in the evening. In such a situation, the auspicious time for worship on Dhanteras will last only for 1 hour 56 minutes.
