Yugendra, who contested the elections, deposited Rs 9 lakh in ECI

New Delhi. Many candidates have filed applications for verification of EVM microcontroller regarding Maharashtra Assembly Election 2024 election results. 11 out of 21 candidates from Pune have officially filed applications with the Election Commission for re-verification of microcontroller. Yugendra Pawar, NCP SP candidate from Baramati seat, has filed an application with the district administration to verify the microcontrollers of 19 EVMs. For this he has paid Rs 8 lakh 96 thousand.

137 candidates from Pune applied

Apart from Yugendra Pawar, Hadapsar candidate Prashant Jagtap and Congress candidate from Pune Cantt Ramesh Bagve are included. Application for EVM verification has to be made within 7 days of the declaration of election results. In such a situation, 30th November was its last date. All the candidates together have paid Rs 66 lakh 64 thousand for the verification of microcontrollers in 137 EVM sets from the entire district. As per Supreme Court guidelines, candidates who stand third in their respective constituencies can ask for testing of 5 percent microcontrollers of electronic voting machines used in their assembly constituencies.

VVPAT testing is done under strict supervision

The district election officials have confirmed that they have sent the requests for verification to the State Election Commission. In such a situation, the microcontroller will be tested under strict monitoring. In which candidates and engineers of VVPAT manufacturing companies will be included. Let us tell you that Prashant Jagtap has demanded verification of 27 EVMs of his assembly constituency, for this he has paid Rs 12 lakh.
