National Crime Records Bureau released figures
Bhopal. National Crime Records Bureau, New Delhi has released the crime statistics of 2022 across the country, according to which there has been a significant decline in serious crimes like murder, attempt to murder, robbery, housebreaking in Madhya Pradesh as compared to previous years. At the same time, total crimes have decreased by 1.80 percent. This information was given by Madhya Pradesh Police Public Relations Officer Ashish Sharma on Monday. He said that according to the data published by the National Crime Records Bureau for the year 2022, IPC crimes have decreased in Madhya Pradesh as compared to the year 2021. While a total of three lakh four thousand 66 crimes were committed in the state in the year 2021, in the year 2022 the crimes reduced to only two lakh 98 thousand 578 crimes. That means there has been a 1.80 percent decrease in crimes in the year 2022 as compared to the year 2021. Compared to the year 2021, in the year 2022, the cases have increased by 2.75 percent in murder, 3.19 percent in attempt to murder, 20.24 in robbery, 5.41 in robbery, 2.46 in house breaking cases and others under the Indian Penal Code. A decrease of 1.42 percent has been recorded in crimes.

Crime growth rate against women reduced by one third
He said that the growth rate of crimes against women in Madhya Pradesh was 19.63 percent in the year 2020-21, which reduced by almost one-third to only 6.82 percent in the year 2021-22. While 4160 rape cases were reported in the first six months of 2022, 3450 cases have been registered from January to June in 2023, a decrease of 17.07 percent. Similarly, a decrease of 1.22 percent has been recorded in crimes committed under the POCSO Act. While Madhya Pradesh Police has set up Urja Mahila Help Desk in all the police stations with the aim of providing timely assistance and security to women, special campaigns like Asha, Muskaan and Abhimanyu are also being run.

Crime growth rate against Scheduled Castes reduced by one fourth
A significant decline was recorded in the growth rate of crimes against Scheduled Castes (SC) in the state. While the crime growth rate against Scheduled Castes was 30 percent in 2019-20, in the year 2021-22 it came down by one-fourth to only 7.19 percent. Similarly, if compared with the first six months of the year 2022, there has been a decline of 5.29 percent in crimes against Scheduled Castes (SC) in the state in the first six months of the year 2023. In the first six months of 2022, 2213 crimes took place against Scheduled Castes, while in the first six months of 2023, 2096 crimes took place. The number of hot spots in Madhya Pradesh was 906 in the year 2022, which has reduced to 566 in the year 2023. That means there has been a decrease of 37 percent. Similarly, the total average monthly crime in hot spot areas was 96 in the year 2021, which has come down to 65 in the year 2023. There has been a decrease of 31 percent.

Crime growth rate against Scheduled Tribes decreased from 24 to 13 percent.
If we look at the data of the last three years on the growth rate of crimes against Scheduled Tribes (ST), there has been a continuous decline in crimes. Whereas in the year 2019-20, the growth rate of crimes against Scheduled Castes was 24 percent, it came down to only 13.40 percent in the year 2021-22. Similarly, if compared with the first six months of the year 2022, there has been a decrease of 14.99 percent in crimes against Scheduled Tribes in 2023. While the number of crimes against Scheduled Tribes in the year 2022 was 1094, the number of these crimes has been recorded at 930 in the first six months of this year.

The total number of crimes committed against Scheduled Tribes in Madhya Pradesh has been 2979. It is noteworthy that the total population of Scheduled Tribes in Madhya Pradesh (153 lakh) is the highest in the country. The rate of crime against Scheduled Tribes in Madhya Pradesh is third in the country. The same rate is 35.5 in Kerala state and 27.3 in Rajasthan and 19.4 in Madhya Pradesh.

Increase in restrictive actions
There has been an increase in restrictive actions in the year 2022 as compared to the year 2021. While in the year 2021, 9,07,990 preventive actions were taken, in 2022, the police actively took 9,37,284 preventive actions.
