Ashwin’s explosion in TNPL’s eliminator, 83 runs in 48 balls while opening
In the Tamil Nadu Premier League 2025 Eliminator match, Dindigul Dragons defeated Trichy Grand Cholus by 6 wickets to enter the qualifier 2. Team captain Ravichandran Ashwin played an important role in Dragons’ victory in this match. At first Ashwin took three wickets from the ball and later opening the team by scoring a stormy 83 runs in just 48 balls.
Ashwin was also adjudged Player of the Match for his brilliant performance. Now Dindigul Dragons will face Chepock Super Gillies on July 4 in Qualifier 2. Talking about this eliminator, Ashwin won the toss at the NPR College Ground and fielded Trichy Grand Cholas first.
At one time the score of Trichy had increased to 97-6 by the 16th over and it seemed that the innings would be reduced to around 120 but the falling Trichy team managed to reach 140-9. Ashwin returned for his final over in the 19th over of the innings and took two wickets, dismissing Jafar Jamal and N Selva Kumaran and recorded 3-28 figures in their four overs. Apart from him, Varun Chakraborty also took two wickets for 19 runs.
After this Ashwin came out to bat and led his team. He gave his team a great start by scoring 37 runs off 22 balls. Dindigul’s team reached 58–1 by the sixth over. Even after this, Ashwin did not stop and he scored a half -century off 31 balls and kept moving forward. Chasing the target, Dindigul finally won with six wickets and 20 balls remaining. Ashwin was adjudged Player of the Match and Dindigul will now play with Chepock Super Gillies to make it to the finals.
