Rinku Singh is being considered for the T20 World Cup based on his impressive performances in the shortest format of the game in recent months. His standout campaign in the last edition of the IPL earned him a debut in international cricket, where he made an immediate impact. Many view Rinku Singh as an ideal candidate for the finisher’s role in the team, given his skills and form in T20 cricket.

Hours before the selectors’ meeting in Ahmedabad, Shah Rukh expressed his desire to see Rinku Singh make his debut in the upcoming T20 World Cup. Speaking to Star Sports after KKR’s match against Delhi Capitals, Shah Rukh Khan shared his thoughts on Rinku Singh’s potential inclusion. SRK said:

“Being able to participate in the journey of the youngsters, who have gone to become such amazing players and playing for the country. I am really looking forward to Rinku being in the World Cup squad and some other youngsters from other teams as well, who deserve it so much.”

He added: “But apna hi toh personal hota hain (but since he is with us, it is personal). So if Rinku reaches the squad, I will be very happy.”

Talking about the game, in a strong performance, KKR defeated DC by seven wickets to return to winning form. After restricting DC to 153/9, KKR chased down the target in less than 17 overs, losing only three wickets in the process.

Unlike his impressive performance last season, Rinku Singh has struggled to make an impact with the bat in IPL 2024. In 9 games so far, he has faced only 82 deliveries and scored 123 runs, indicating limited opportunities. Despite a chance to bat against DC on Monday (April 29), Rinku Singh was dismissed for a run-a-ball 11. He will be hoping for more opportunities in the remaining games to prepare himself for the T20 World Cup.
