Bhopal, 29 April (HS). On the orders of the Indore bench of Madhya Pradesh High Court, the survey of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) department in the historical Bhojshala of Dhar continued for the 39th day on Monday. A team of 13 ASI officers along with 37 workers reached the Bhojshala premises at 8 in the morning and came out at 5 in the evening. Here the team worked for about nine hours using modern equipment using scientific methods. Gopal Sharma, Ashish Goyal from the Hindu side and Abdul Samad Khan from the Muslim side were also present with the survey team.

Muslim party Abdul Samad, who was present with the survey team, said that today the team has done the leveling work in the western area, whereas the work was stopped in the north and south area, the wall has emerged in three layers, spots have been placed there. And it was checked how much the wall had gone inside. He told that the survey work in the Dargah complex was closed today.

ASI got eight weeks time for survey in Bhojshala

Meanwhile, the Indore bench of Madhya Pradesh High Court on Monday accepted the demand of extending the time limit of survey in Dhar's Bhojshala. The High Court has given eight weeks more time to ASI for the survey. Now ASI will be able to prepare a detailed report after the survey. The High Court heard the arguments of both the parties and then gave time till July 5 to the ASI for the survey. In the hearing held on Monday on behalf of Hindu Front for Justice, senior advocates Vishnushankar Jain (New Delhi) and Vinay Joshi presented their arguments in the High Court. At the same time, the Muslim side had filed a petition to ban the survey period, but the court rejected their petition. After the hearing, the High Court has extended the time period of the survey.

Now GPR machine will be used

ASI says that it is taking more time to conduct the survey while keeping the current structure safe. According to ASI, now GPR machine will be used in the survey. National Geographical Research Institute of India (NGRI) has been contacted for this machine. As soon as permission is received from there, the survey will start with the machine. This is a very slow process. Therefore he has asked for additional time of eight weeks.

this is the controversy

Bhojshala is named after Raja Bhoj. According to the website of the district administration, Bhojshala was built by Raja Bhoj. This was the university in which the statue of Vagdevi was installed. The Muslim ruler converted it into a mosque. On Tuesday, the Hindu side is allowed to offer prayers in the Bhojshala, while on Friday, the Muslim side is allowed entry to offer Namaz from 1 to 3 pm. Hindu Front for Justice had filed this petition in Indore High Court on May 1, 2022. It was said that every Tuesday, Hindus purify the banquet hall by performing Yagya and on Friday, Muslims defile the Yagya Kund in the name of Namaz. This should be stopped. Complete control of the Bhojshala should be handed over to Hindus. For this, if necessary, photography, videography and excavation of the entire Bhojshala should be done. The High Court has said that the ASI team is conducting a survey on the basis of these points, but more time has been sought for this.

The Muslim side claims that it is a Muslim religious place and worship has been going on there for years, while the Hindu side says that it is a Saraswati temple. Centuries ago, Muslims had built the tomb of Maulana Jalaluddin here. Even today, there are pictures of Gods and Goddesses and verses written in Sanskrit in Bhojshala. The British had taken the statue of Vagdevi installed in the banquet hall to London. At present the statue of Vagdevi is in a museum in London.
