Mumbai Police have received information about three gunshots fired outside Salman Khan’s home in Mumbai’s Bandra West. A search has been launched for those who fired the shots.
Three gunshots were reportedly fired outside Salman Khan’s house in Mumbai on Sunday morning.
Mumbai: Two unidentified persons fired multiple gunshots outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s residence in Mumbai’s Bandra on early Sunday morning, police said. A search has been launched for the assailants who were reportedly on a two-wheeler.
The police have enhanced security outside the actor’s house and the area following the incident. Meanwhile, CCTV footage from the vicinity is being examined to ascertain details about the person involved in the firing.
The firing outside Galaxy Apartments, where Salman Khan lives with his family, took place around 5 am. Around three rounds were fired by the assailants before they fled from the spot. Mumbai Police’s Crime Branch has stepped in to probe the incident and a hunt is on for the accused. Meanwhile, police are also investigating if the firing has anything to do with Salman’s security.
Death threats have been issued to Salman Khan in the past by dreaded gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and his gang members over the infamous 1998 black buck hunting incident which the gangster claims outraged his Bishnoi community and has since then vowed revenge.
Last year, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) said the actor was in the top 10 targets of an alleged hit list of Lawrence Bishnoi, who is currently lodged in the Tihar Jail.
In March last year, an e-mail threatening Khan was received at his office following which the Mumbai Police registered an FIR against gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar and another person under Indian Penal Code sections 120-B (criminal conspiracy), 506-II (criminal intimidation) and 34 (common intention).
The FIR was based on a complaint lodged with Bandra Police by one Prashant Gunjalkar, who according to police frequently visited the Bandra-based residence of Khan and ran an artist management company.
