After long negotiations between Republicans and Democrats in the US Senate, a proposal named National Security Agreement was presented. Under this proposal, there is a provision to protect the rights of partners of H-1B visa holders to employment in America and the rights of their adult children. This proposal will allow about 1 lakh H-4 visa holders to work. H-4 visas are issued to partners and children of H-1B visa holders.
Green card is issued within a fixed limit
A large number of Indians live in the US. Among them, most are IT experts, who have been waiting for a long time to get the green card. Now the path to getting a green card will also open. Due to not getting green card, partners of H-1B visa holders are not able to work in America. The Green Card is officially known as the Permanent Residence Card in the US. This is a document issued to immigrants in America, under which the visa holder is given the right to reside permanently. There is a fixed limit per country for issuing green cards.

The National Security Agreement is a package of $118.28 billion. In this bill, there is a demand to protect the rights of adult children of H-1B visa holders, to give employment rights to the partners of this category of visa holders and to increase the green card quota. Under this bill, 18,000 people will get employment-based green cards every year for the next five years. Children of parents who legally came to the US to work are considered ‘aged out’ when they turn 21 years of age. Under the new provisions, if these children have been in America for 8 years before turning 21, i.e. are H-4 visa holders, then they will be allowed to live and work in America temporarily.
No need to wait so many days for work
US President Joe Biden said that under the new system, the process of granting work permission to refugees arriving in America after screening will be expedited. There is a legal waiting period of 180 days for them. In the new system they will be considered capable of working much earlier. He said that the system for immigrants had deteriorated for decades. The time has come to rectify this. Now America will be made more secure, the border will also be secured and people will be treated fairly and humanely.
Immigrant visa limit increased for the first time
According to the White House, the immigrant visa limit has been increased for the first time in 30 years. 50 thousand visas will be given every year, with this 2.50 lakh visas will be issued in the next five years. Of these, 1.60 lakh visas will be family based and 90 thousand will be employment based.
What is H-1B visa?
H-1B visa is a non-immigrant visa. It is issued to those who go to America to work. In other words, this visa is given to hire such skilled employees working in American companies who are in shortage in America. After this he is given a green card. The validity of this visa is six years. Due to the demand from American companies, Indian IT professionals get this visa the most.
