New Delhi: Indian cricket legends Sachin Tendulkar and Sunil Gavaskar along with fellow Mumbaikars Suryakumar Yadav and Ajinkya Rahane on Monday cast their votes during phase 5 of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 in Mumbai. Tendulkar was joined by his son Arjun Tendulkar, who plays for Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as both voted at a polling booth in Mumbai.

Several videos of the father-son duo went viral on social media where the Master Blaster was seen going first to vote followed by his son. Outside the booth, Tendulkar said that he is a proud Indian after casting his vote and appealed to all the voters to come out and vote “as it is important for the future of the country. He was nominated as a Member of Parliament in 2012 and was the first active sportsperson to receive the honour.

Ex-India batter turned commentator Sunil Gavaskar also urged citizens to come out and vote. “They (people) must make the effort unless somebody is very seriously ill. But I think they must make the effort to cast the vote because it is their government and their vote is going to be important,” Gavaskar insisted.

Swashbuckling India batter Suryakumar Yadav also cast his vote, urging people to contribute their part as well. The unorthodox batter shared a picture of himself showing the inked finger and asking everyone to “shape the future of our nation.”

Ajinkya Rahane didn’t keep away from his national duties apart from cricket as he took to his social media to share a photo of himself with his wife after casting their respective votes. The veteran cricketer wrote, “We did our duty. Have you?”
