Mahindra & Mahindra to launch Scorpio N- in 2023based Showed the Global Pick Up and Thar.E concepts, and also launched the Oja range of tractors. During the event, the company had outlined its future plans including the launch timeline for its new electric SUV range. Recently, Mahindra has launched XEV 9E and BE 6E electric SUVs at a starting price of Rs 18.90 lakh. The company has confirmed that an electric version of Mahindra’s IC-engined SUV will also be launched in the future.
Both the Bolero MUV and Scorpio SUV are expected to get electric powertrains in the future. Contrary to expectations, the upcoming Mahindra Scorpio.E and Bolero.E may not be built on a conventional ladder-frame platform. Instead, they are rumored to be based on the dedicated skateboard EV architecture, INGLO, which underpins the BE and XEV series.
The Mahindra Thar.e will have a customized version of the INGLO P1 architecture with a longer wheelbase and increased ground clearance. While many global automakers have retained the body-on-frame chassis design, they have customized it for electrification. Mahindra may have explored this option for the Thar.e as well to retain its rugged capabilities during the transition to electric power.
Mahindra chose the INGLO platform primarily for its packaging advantages. The battery in the Thar.e is placed under the floor. This design strategy is expected to be repeated in the Mahindra Scorpio.E and Bolero.E, which will further increase their cabin space while maintaining a compact and efficient layout.
Similar to the Thar.E, the Scorpio.E and Bolero.E are expected to feature best-in-class approach, departure and breakover angles, which will enhance their off-road capabilities. On the inside, these models will be equipped with advanced connectivity features and modern amenities. Mahindra also revealed that the production version of the Scorpio N-based pickup truck is expected to be launched by late 2025 or 2026.
Although the launch timeline for the Thar.e, Scorpio.e and Bolero.e has not been revealed, it has been confirmed that both the Thar.e and the Scorpio.e will feature a 4WD layout. Mahindra will also launch an electric version of the XUV 3XO soon.
