Bastar. After the biggest action ever taken against Naxalites in Kanker district of Chhattisgarh, Naxalites have committed a dastardly act in Narayanpur on Tuesday night. Just two days before the first phase of Lok Sabha elections in Bastar seat in the state, Naxalites attacked and killed Bharatiya Janata Party leader and Deputy Sarpanch Pancham Das with an ax late on Tuesday night.
Narayanpur District Superintendent of Police Prabhat Kumar said today that this incident was not done by local Naxalites but by Naxalites coming from outside. The victim Das was the target of Naxalites for the last several days. Naxalites had already threatened to kill him. Late last night, some Naxalites in plain clothes reached his house. He told that the Naxalites first broke the door of the house. Then they went inside and attacked Das with an axe, killing him.
The Superintendent of Police said that the former Bastar Division Committee of the Naxal organization has taken responsibility for Das's murder. In the pamphlet, the Naxalites have accused the deceased BJP leader of corruption and being a police informer. The Maoist also told that the Deputy Sarpanch was not listening to him. That's why he was murdered. Presently the police reached the spot and took possession of the body and sent it for post-mortem. After this incident, the team of police force, DRG, ITBP has started investigation.

On the murder of the BJP leader, Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Vijay Sharma said that the Naxalites have killed Das in a cowardly manner. Even before this, murders are happening continuously. He said that if you have a gun in your hand you will kill anyone. The Home Minister said that the government is always ready for talks with the Naxalites through organization, faction or any means.
